Part Time Job Opportunity at St. Martin’s – Christian Formation Administrator

11 January 2012 No Comment

Wanted: An energetic, outgoing, and organized person to support the
day-to-day operation of the Christian Formation Ministry at the
Episcopal Church of St. Martin in Davis, California. The successful
administrator will provide clerical, organizational, and
communications support to help our staff and volunteers guide our
children and youth to grow in faith and love and to prepare them to be
adult members of our faith community. Familiarity with Episcopal
tradition and liturgy is desirable, but not as important as the
ability to bring love, faith, and energy to this important ministry.

Time Commitment: 15 hours per week. Duties include those listed below.
Participation in Sunday worship is desirable, but not part of the
regular duties.

Key Duties:
1: To maintain and distribute control documents (including the
children and youth directory, the Christian Formation Calendar,
Calendar requests, Event and Trip Registration Forms, Leaders
Directory, First-Timer Directory) and to ensure that compliance
documents are up-to-date and distributed to all involved parties
(copyright licensing, background checks on volunteers and staff,
etc.).

2: To ensure that major events are organized, advertized, well
attended, and carried out in a way that leaves the kids more eager
about following Christ, leaves the parents confident that their
children are being faithfully and creatively nurtured, and leaves the
volunteers with a sense that they have made enough of a difference
that they want to continue serving in the Christian Formation
Ministry.

3: To ensure that leadership recruitment, certification and training
processes are in place, so that necessary volunteers are called and
equipped for service before they are to begin.

4: To attend and record minutes of regular meetings that nurture and
encourage the volunteers to complete their assignments with deeper
love for God and clarity of vision.

5: To make sure first-time visitors receive exceptional and timely
follow up, so that all students can join youth ministry programs in a
way that feels welcoming and natural to them.

6: To inform the church staff, particularly the senior pastor and the
Vestry, of the actions and programs of the children, youth, and
volunteers, so as to maintain their enthusiastic support of the
priorities and programs of the Christian Formation Ministry.

7: To handle troubleshooting in a way that honors the concerns of
those who bring them and offers timely, creative solutions to problems
while supporting and encouraging everyone to participate in the
solutions.

The successful administrator will participate in and enrich our faith
community by strengthening ties between all members of the parish to
enhance not only our Christian Formation Ministry, but also the growth
in faith and love of all, young and old alike. Please consider this
and briefly (up to 500 words) describe how you would fulfill these
goals.

To apply, please send your resume of training, experience and
abilities with your brief description to ymart@churchofstmartin.org .
Interviews will begin in late January and the successful candidate
should expect to start in February 2012.
