All Saints’ Day, Sunday November 3

Children’s Activity in the Church Library, Sunday, November 3 at 10am
We will not have Godly Play or our First Sunday approach to worship at 10am on All Saints’ Day, but we will still have a special craft activity for children during the 10am service. Children who want to participate can meet the Godly Play teachers in the church library at 10am. Your children will join you in the parish hall for Communion.
“Make Me an Instrument of Peace: A Guide to Civil Discourse”
Sundays, November 3 and November 10 at 11:30am
Rev. Pamela will offer additional classes in a series designed to be helpful during the election season and the generally contentious times in which we find ourselves. We’ll meet in the church library to watch and discuss short videos on topics such as “Context Matters” and “Tenets for Civil Discourse.” This is a drop-in class; come when you can, as you are, ready to listen deeply and be heard with respect.
This Saturday! The Investiture of Presiding Bishop-elect Sean Rowe
The National Church invites all to join online to view the investiture of Presiding Bishop-elect Sean Rowe on Saturday, November 2. The festivities begin at 6:30am PT with a roll-call of Dioceses. The service itself begins at 8am PT. Tune in to the event page, where the link will be posted. The events will also be livestreamed on the Episcopal Church Facebook page. St. Martin’s had hoped to hold a watch party, but we are not able to do so due to a lack of space during our stained-glass window restoration.
Worship in the Parish Hall and Simple Ways You Can Help
- Some of our parishioners are sensitive to perfume and other scents. If possible, minimize the amount of perfume, cologne, and other scents that you wear. We will also set up a few chairs outside the west door of the parish hall for those who need to sit outside.
- As best as you are able, please fill in seats in the middle of the rows so that latecomers can find aisle seats easily.
- If you need Holy Communion brought to you at your seat, take an aisle seat, if possible.
- Contact the office if you can help set up on Saturday, November 9 or 23 at 2pm.
Thank-you to those who have helped set up on Saturdays and put away chairs on Sundays! Please let us know if there are aspects of our parish hall worship you think we could improve.
Walk in Love Stewardship Update
We have received 88 pledges so far. You can see our progress on posters at the front of the parish hall. If you haven’t submitted your pledge, you can still do so. We are very grateful for all pledges and for all of you who are considering pledging.
Accepting Donations for the Christine Blanchard Thanksgiving Project
The Social Justice & Outreach Committee requests donations to the Thanksgiving Project. This year, we are distributing the gift cards to local organizations that serve families with school-age children, undocumented UC Davis students, and seniors. To donate, write checks to the Episcopal Church of St. Martin with “Thanksgiving Project” in the memo line, or use the blue GIVE button on St. Martin’s website (www.churchofstmartin.org). For questions, go to the Thanksgiving Project table after both services on Sunday.
Last Chance to Nominate Organizations for Linda Frost Grants
To nominate a nonprofit organization, provide a one or two-paragraph summary of your rationale for nominating this organization, including its key work and goals. Include leadership, contact information, website, and any other useful information. Submit nominations to the church office (info@churchofstmartin.org). Nominations are due Sunday, November 3.
Return to Standard Time – Sunday at 2am
This weekend, we set our clocks back one hour at 2am and return to standard time. If your clocks do not reset automatically, remember to set them back one hour when you go to bed Saturday night!
