I Will With God’s Help
A Journey Toward Racial Healing and Justice

I Will With God’s Help is a one-day racial healing workshop specially developed for the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California by the Commission of Intercultural Ministries, under the guidance of Dr. Catherine Meeks, Executive Director of the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing in Atlanta. Churches within the Wingfield Deanery are invited to attend this workshop on Saturday, July 19, 9:30-4:30, at Grace Episcopal Church in Fairfield. Please note that this is a hybrid workshop, and on-line participants are encouraged to attend as well.

In the context of our Baptismal Covenant, the facilitators will lead participants through a series of presentations on the historical and current experiences of Indigenous Peoples, African Americans, Latinos, and Asian American/ Pacific Islanders in the United States. We will, as followers of Jesus, explore how to grow in our capacity to love, strive for justice and respect the dignity of every human being. An important part of the day is discussion among table groups or breakout groups, which occurs after each presentation.

This training is in the Wingfield Deanery, the region consisting of the southwest corner of the Diocese of Northern California. St. Martin’s is in this deanery and members of St. Martin’s and others in the deanery who want to take anti-racism training are encouraged to sign up for this workshop. Though this is not a requirement to volunteer at St. Martin’s, it is highly recommended. Other workshops will be offered in other areas of the Diocese on later dates.
