Message from the Very Rev. Pamela from Oct 17, 2025:

Dear Ones,

Often when we talk about stewardship we use the “time, talent, and treasure” threefold model to discuss different ways that we can contribute to the life of the church. In the Episcopal tradition, church life and leadership goes beyond the individual congregation and includes deanery, diocesan, and the national/international church (what we usually just call The Episcopal Church, or TEC) as well.

Becoming more involved in leadership is a wonderful way to deepen your connection to your faith community and, hopefully, to your faith practices and spiritual life also. Since coming to St. Martin’s, I’ve served on the Bishop Search Committee, the Board of Trustees, and as a General Convention deputy. As dean of the Wingfield Deanery, I currently have “seat and voice” on the Board, but not a vote. Others at St. Martin’s have also served in the Commission on the Ministry, regional discernment committees, and more. Currently we have parishioners involved in diocesan Rainbow Ministries and the Migrant Support Network, too.

I would strongly encourage you to take a look at two important leadership openings this week: General Convention deputy and Wingfield deanery representative to the Board of Trustees. I am more than happy to talk with you about what these positions entail! You can also look at the description of the Board of Trustees HERE or the nomination form and description for GC deputy HERE. Serving in these roles gives you the ability and responsibility to help shape the direction of our church. It would be wonderful to have more St. Martin’s folks in “the room(s) where it happens.”

With gratitude for all the ways you serve Christ and one another,

Pamela+
