Announcements for the Week of January 16, 2026

Last Chance! Nominations for Vestry and Convention Delegate
At the Annual Meeting on January 25, we will elect Vestry members and Diocesan Convention Delegates. Vestry members serve for three years and help ensure that St. Martin’s does its best to care for the parish, the larger church, and the community. To nominate yourself or another parishioner, email the church office with a) name of nominee, b) nominee’s contact info, c) ministries nominee has been involved in. If you are nominating someone other than yourself, please talk to them first to get their permission. We are also seeking nominations for three more lay delegates and two alternates to Diocesan Convention, which will be held online on October 24, 2026.

Next Sunday! Annual Meeting, January 25
St. Martin’s Annual Meeting takes place next Sunday, January 25 during the 10am service. We will have ONE SERVICE ONLY so that everyone can be together. Please be there to have a voice in church governance, to help elect Vestry members and Diocesan Convention delegates, and to review the 2026 budget. We will have an enhanced coffee hour in the narthex before the meeting. If you wish to bring a snack to share, please do.

Childcare during Annual Meeting: We will have childcare in the Nursery and also group activities for TK – grade 6 in Room 4 during the meeting.

Supporting Our Migrant Neighbors
Sac/ACT Multifaith Vigil: Sacramento Area Congregations Together (Sac/ACT) held a successful vigil on December 18 to stand with our immigrant sister and brother neighbors. The formal program began with a homily by the Rev. Julie Wakelee, Canon to the Ordinary from the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California. Sac/ACT will hold another vigil at the John Moss Federal Building on Thursday, January 22 at 12pm. More information HERE.

Sacred Journeys: An Empathy-Based Activity and Dialogue Series on Migration with Dignity: St. Martin’s will partner with Trinity Cathedral in a pilot of a robust new curriculum being developed by The Episcopal Church on the topic of migration. The 10-session series will explore personal stories, videos, books, artwork, and articles about immigration. The pilot will begin in late February. We have three spaces available for St. Martin’s in the pilot group. Please let the office know as soon as possible if you would be interested in being a participant in the pilot. We then expect to roll out the course right here at St. Martin’s this fall.

Ways to Be Involved in the Larger Community
Davis Interfaith Association Meeting, Monday, January 26:The Davis Interfaith Association (DIA) aims to celebrate the diversity of religions in our local area and to foster understanding between them. The Rev. Dr. Portia Hopkins, Chaplain of the Belfry, is the current chair. DIA’s first activity in 2026 is a meeting and social on Monday, January 26 at 6:30pm, in the Ignatius Room at St. James. The topic will be a presentation on Islam. More information HERE.

Community Forum on Human Trafficking Awareness, January 28, 6pm: Soroptimist’s Davis, Empower Yolo, the Davis Police, and others will offer a community forum in honor of human trafficking awareness month on January 28, 6-7:30pm at the Veterans Memorial in Davis. Anti-Trafficking advocates and survivors will discuss trafficking prevention and address: Does it happen here? Who is at risk? There will be a youth-focused and adult-focused presentation with a survivor speaker for each room. Learn more HERE.

Service Opportunities
Bring Nonperishable Food for Our Weekly Collection: As food costs are rising, we can help our local pantries serve the food insecure by bringing non-perishable food items to church to be distributed to four local pantries. This Sunday’s collection will go to STEAC and next week’s (January 25) to The Pantry at UC Davis.

Cook a Meal for Paul’s Place with the Davis Progressive Youth Collective: The Davis Progressive Youth Collective holds monthly events for youth in 6th through 12th grades. On Sunday, January 25, 1:30-3pm they will cook a tasty meal for the unhoused guests of Paul’s Place shelter. Cooking will take place at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation (1701 Russell Blvd. in Davis). RSVP HERE.

Save the Dates for Upcoming Fellowship and Formation Opportunities
Sunday, February 15, Pancake Breakfast: This will also be a fundraiser for Social Justice & Outreach. Time TBA.
Sunday, February 22, Exploring St. Brigid & Celtic Spirituality: Join Rev. Pamela after the 10am service for this adult forum.

Rector’s Office Hours
Rev. Pamela holds drop-in office hours on Tuesday afternoons. Her next office hours will be on Tuesday, January 20, from 4-5:15pm in the church office. If you wish to meet with Pamela at a different time, please contact her directly or contact the church office.

Church office Closed on Monday, January 19
We will be closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 19.
We return to our regular hours, Monday – Friday, 9am-1pm, on Tuesday, January 20.
