Holy Week and Easter Schedule at St. Martin’s
Wednesday, April 1, 7pm, A Musical Meditation on the Nine Nocturnes of Tenebrae featuring music by Frédéric Chopin.

Thursday, April 2, 7pm, Maundy Thursday: Holy Eucharist with optional foot washing.

Friday, April 3, 12pm, Good Friday: Stations of the Cross.

Friday, April 3, 7pm, Good Friday: Good Friday Liturgy.

Saturday, April 4, 8pm, Easter Vigil: The Great Vigil of Easter.

Sunday, April 5, 8am and 10am, Easter Day: Festive Holy Eucharists with music and choir at both. Easter Egg Hunt for children of all ages follows the 10am service.

Easter Donations in Memory or Thanksgiving
This year, Easter donations in memory of or thanksgiving for loved ones go to the Altar Guild. The Altar Guild provides the bread and wine for Communion as well as the linens, candles, candle oil, and silver you see on and around the altar. Write a check to the church with “Easter Memorials & Thanksgivings” on the memo line or use the online GIVE button on our website. Please write the church office with your loved ones’ names so that we can print them in the Easter bulletins.

Lent Worship, Fellowship, and Formation
Living Well Through Lent Online Reflection Group: Join Helen Campbell on Mondays during Lent. This week only, March 9, the session will be from 1:30-3pm on Zoom.

Tuesday Evening Book Study of Richard Rohr’s, The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage: Before class, all are welcome to join an optional dinner at the DCMH meal in the parish hall at 5:45pm. The book study runs 6:30-8pm in the church (church opens 6:15pm). Zoom participation is also an option.

Candlelight Prayer Vigils: A series of candlelight prayer vigils are taking place at Davis churches on the third Sunday of the month at 7pm. The next vigil will be on March 15 at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation.

Wednesday Night Soup Suppers: This Lent, we are at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation. Supper starts at 6pm; sung Evening Prayer service (Vespers) starts at 6:45pm. Sign up in the narthex if you can bring soup and/or bread to share. The next soup supper is Wednesday, March 11. Rev. Pamela will be offering a brief reflection during the service.

Learners’ Shabbat at Congregation Bet Haverim, Friday, March 13
On Friday, March 13, 6:30-8 pm, Congregation Bet Haverim in Davis (1715 Anderson Road) is hosting their Third Annual Learners’ Shabbat Service. This is a typical Friday night Shabbat Service with special extra information about how the service works. The Rabbi and others will provide explanations for what makes up the service. This year, they will also focusing on ritual objects such as the Torah, decorative elements like stained-glass windows, and the sanctuary’s structure and how it reflects Jewish values and traditions. All are welcome!

Music Notes for 10am Service on Sunday
On this Third Sunday of Lent, the image of thirst is vivid in our readings: in Exodus, God brings water from the rock; in John’s Gospel, Jesus offers the Samaritan woman “living water” of eternal life. The choir will sing “Sicut cervus,” by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, one of the most important composers of the Renaissance. At a time when church leaders were concerned that complex polyphony obscured sacred texts, his style demonstrated that intricate vocal writing could still allow the words to be clear. The Latin text is from Psalm 42 (“as the deer desires the springs of water, so my own soul longs for you, O God”). Find the complete music notes on our website.

Service Opportunities for Youth and All Ages
Diocesan-Wide Youth Summer Service Project: All high-school aged students (including those entering or graduating in summer 2026) and/or chaperones are invited to join the Sierra Service Project on July 12-18 in Del Norte County, CA or July 19-25 in Navajo Nation, AZ. Find more information on Sierra Service Projects on the Sierra Service Project website. If your youth is interested, please have them fill out this Diocesan interest form as soon as possible.

Bring Nonperishable Food for Our Weekly Collection: “Every person. Every week. One item of food.” This is the motto of our weekly non-perishable food collection. Sunday’s food goes to Dixon Family Services and next week’s to The Pantry at UC Davis.

Supporting Our Migrant Neighbors
Brewing Stories with St. Martin’s “Pope of Foam,” Charlie Bamforth, Saturday, April 11, 5:30-7pm
Come for a fundraising evening of beer tasting and banter at Sudwerk Brewery in Davis (2001 Second St). All funds raised will support our migrant neighbors through the Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network. Ticket information coming soon.

Statements from the Episcopal Church on the Military Strike in Iran
Our Presiding Bishop, Sean Rowe, has issued a statement on current events in Iran. The Presiding Bishop’s letter includes a link to a letter from Archbishop Hosam Naoum of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East. Our Diocesan Bishop Megan Traquair has also issued a letter that includes a prayer for a time of war (the one we prayed together in church last Sunday).
