This Sunday! Fourth Sunday with Pop-Up Choir
Fourth Sunday at 10am: This Sunday, March 22, the 10am service is a little shorter than usual and more accessible to the youngest in our congregation. After the service, all are invited to coffee hour outside the parish hall.
Music Notes for 10am Service on Sunday: Today is a Pop-Up Choir Sunday! Any one of any age can join us at the Offertory to sing a fun, spontaneous anthem suitable for adults and children to sing together. We rehearse at 9:30 in the sanctuary, but you can join us whether or not you have attended. Find the full music notes on our website.
Next Sunday! Palm Sunday, March 29 – Traditional Worship and Family-Friendly Activities
At 8am, we’ll have palms and traditional Rite I Holy Eucharist. Come at 9:45am for the 10am service to meet our donkey friends, Jenny and Larry, who come to us courtesy of Rural Veterinary Services, a donkey rescue in Dixon. For safety purposes, we are not encouraging people to feed the donkeys this year. We hope you will join the palm procession around the grounds and then into the church, where we’ll have a Passion Play and Holy Eucharist. After the 10am service, stay for coffee hour, and join kids of all ages in painting wooden Easter eggs.
Holy Week at St. Martin’s
Wednesday, April 1, 9am: Join Rev. Pamela and others for Morning Prayer in the church. About a 25-minute service.
Wednesday, April 1, 7pm, A Musical Meditation on the Nine Nocturnes of Tenebrae featuring music by Frédéric Chopin. Performed by pianist Jeffrey Jubenville.
Thursday, April 2, 7pm, Maundy Thursday: Holy Eucharist with optional foot washing and striping of the altar.
Friday, April 3, Good Friday,12pm: Stations of the Cross in the church. Optional veneration of the cross.
Friday, April 3, Good Friday, 7pm: Good Friday Liturgy. Optional veneration of the cross.
Saturday, April 4, 8pm, The Great Vigil of Easter: Dramatic readings, Holy Eucharist. Stay for a reception in the narthex following the service.
Easter Sunday Services, Egg Hunt, and Brunch
We’ll have two festive Holy Eucharist services at 8am and 10am, both with music and choir. After the 10am service, toddlers through 6th graders are invited to bring a basket and join in the annual Easter Egg hunt! There is no Godly Play on Easter Sunday. We’ll also have a simple Easter brunch and fellowship after the 10am service. Sign up at church after both services this coming Sunday and next to bring a sweet or savory brunch item on Easter to share with others and/or to help set up or clean up. Or write the office, telling us what you’ll bring. All are welcome!
Ongoing Lent Fellowship and Formation
Living Well Through Lent Online Reflection Group: Join Helen Campbell on Mondays for two more sessions, March 23 and 30 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom. Contact the church office or Helen for the Zoom link.
Tuesday evening book study of Richard Rohr’s The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage: All are welcome to join an optional dinner together at the DCMH meal in the parish hall at 5:45pm; the book study starts at 6:30pm in the church and ends at 8pm. Before the next class on March 24, please read Chapters 7 and 8 and/or listen to the corresponding podcast episodes. The final class will be on Tuesday, April 2.
Wednesday Night Soup Suppers: We have one more soup supper on Wednesday, March 25 at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation. Supper starts at 6pm, with the sung Evening Prayer service (Vespers) starting at 6:45pm and lasting about 30 minutes. Sign up in the narthex if you can bring soup and/or bread to share.
Easter Memorials and Thanksgivings
This year, Easter donations in memory of or thanksgiving for loved ones go to the Altar Guild. The Altar Guild provides the bread and wine for Communion as well as the linens, candles, candle oil, and silver you see on and around the altar at every service. Write a check to the church with “Easter Memorials & Thanksgivings” on the memo line or use the online GIVE button on our website. Please write the office with your loved ones’ names by Monday, March 30 so that we can print them in the Easter bulletins.
Easter Plate Offering, 2026
Our Easter Plate Offering goes to the HEART of Davis Safe Parking Program. The Safe Parking Program provides unhoused individuals with an opportunity to park and sleep in their car overnight in a designated church parking lot and receive an evening and morning meal. Safe Parking costs include paying for security, meals, portable toilets, and insurance. To support this program, you may write a check to The Church of St. Martin with “Easter Offering” in the memo line or use the blue GIVE button on our website. All donations at the Easter Vigil and Easter Day services will be given to the above ministry unless otherwise noted.
Help Us Fill Our Weekly Food Collection Basket
“Every person. Every week. One item of food.” This is the motto of our weekly non-perishable food collection. Sunday’s food goes to CA House Multicultural Living Community with any toiletries for The Belfry. The following week’s collection goes to STEAC.
