St. Martin’s News for the Week of Sunday, 07/12/2026

This Sunday, July 12 – 10am Holy Eucharist, Bible Study, and Taizé Worship
One Morning Service at 10am: For the month of July, we have one Sunday morning service at 10am. We welcome Kimo Kimokeo as our preacher. Kimo is a graduate of the West Coast Collaborative Lay Preaching program.

Bible Study after 10am Service: Join Diane Bamforth in a Bible study on the Parable of the Mustard Seed. We will wonder about the Kingdom of God and why Jesus chose the mustard seed for this parable. The Gospel readings for the next several weeks are all agrarian in nature (seeds, weeds, soil, and fish!), and we’ll encounter the Mustard Seed in just a couple of weeks. Join us for insights and wondering. Meet in Room 6/7.

Sunday Evening! Taizé Worship, 6:30pm: Taizé worship focuses on praying through song and silence. Join us in the church for a service that lasts about 30 minutes. Learn more about the history of the Taizé Community in France and the work they continue today.

Welcome, Worship, and Fellowship Next Week and Beyond
Thursday, July 16, Yoga by the Redwoods, 4:30-5:30pm: Mindfulness Yoga (gentle flow) twice a month on Thursday afternoons in Room 6/7. For youth through adults, this class is offered by yoga instructor, Julia Seebach. The class is free, with donations to St. Martin’s optional.

Saturday, July 18, Maggie Rutherford’s Ordination to the Transitional Diaconate, 11am: Our new curate, Maggie, will be ordained at Trinity Cathedral in Sacramento. Let’s be there to support her! We encourage carpooling. Meet at Davis Park and Ride at 2629 Co Rd 32A (near Mace Boulevard and next to Ikeda’s Market) at 9:45am. Carpools will leave from there at 10am. Unitrans P and Q lines both stop very close to the Park and Ride location. So that we know what to expect, please let the church office know if you will be at the carpool location for a ride or if you can drive others from there.

Sunday, July 19, Pizza Church, 5pm: Meet in Room 6/7 for our first intergenerational Sunday evening service consisting of informal, interactive worship followed by a time for fellowship with pizza. The service will include Holy Eucharist, so whether you’re not able to make church on Sunday morning or are just curious about trying something new, we hope you’ll join us.

July 26, Special Welcome Coffee Hour after 10am Service: Come to a special coffee hour after the 10am service to welcome our curate, Maggie, on her first Sunday at St. Martin’s. If you’re able to bring a snack to share, please let Maria Acuna-Feldman or the office know. And if you’d like to contribute to a welcome gift, connect with the office as well. Let’s make this a special Sunday!

July 29, Older, Wiser Laity (OWL) Tea, 2-4pm: All older and/or wiser laity and clergy are invited to an Afternoon Tea on July 29 in Room 6/7 and outside on the deck, weather permitting. Come at 2pm to share social time and light refreshments. Please RSVP to the church office so that we know how many to expect (info@churchofstmartin.org; 530-756-0444).

August “A Place at the Table” Potlucks
Meet fellow parishioners and spend an evening with them by attending one of our monthly “A Place at the Table” potlucks. On Sunday, August 16 at 5pm, Diane Snow will host a potluck (space for 6 guests) at her home. On Saturday, August 29 at 6pm. Bob Holm and Janet Lane will host a potluck at their home (they have cats but will put them in a separate room; space for 8 guests). Please RSVP to the Church Office for both events.

In Loving MemoryMemorial Service for Susie Williams
A Memorial Service for Susie Williams will take place on Friday, July 17 at 3pm at St. Martin’s. Susie was a parishioner from 1968 to the 1990s. All are welcome to be here to support Susie’s family and to pray for the repose of her soul. Loving God, we pray to you for those we love but see no longer: Grant them your peace; let light perpetual shine upon them.
