Diocesan Migrant Support Network Resources and Webpage
Did you know that the Diocese has a Migrant Support Network, a committee of clergy and lay people who have been meeting regularly to provide information and resources to churches regarding immigration issues. Earlier this year, the Network hosted online webinars on Immigration Basics and Knowing Your Rights (as individuals and as churches). The Network has recently launched a webpage designed to provide useful resources for immigrants and refugees and for congregations (e.g., citizenship resources, safety precautions for churches, and what to do if ICE comes to your church). The website also provides current news related to the Episcopal Church and immigration, and outlines the diocese’s stance amid evolving immigration challenges. The Network has subgroups working on areas of need, such as offering English as a Second Language classes at churches. The group is organized around representatives from each Deanery and is convened by The Rev. Canon Julie Wakelee from the Office of the Bishop. Rev. Pamela is the dean of our deanery, Wingfield, and Janet Lane is the point person on the Network for Wingfield. New for Youth! Second Sunday Liturgy of the Word (LoW)
On the second Sunday of each month, middle and high schoolers are invited to meet with Rev. Debbie during the first half of the 10am service to explore what the Gospel lesson is saying to them. The first Youth LoW (Liturgy of the Word) will meet this Sunday, October 12 in the narthex starting at 10am. They will return to the service before Communion.

This Sunday! Adult Forum on Climate Reality with Garth Lindley
After the 10am service this Sunday, Garth Lindley, a graduate of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project, will lead an Adult Forum on “Climate Reality: Change the Story, Change the World.” Garth is passionate about the environment and has educated himself about climate change and how it is a culmination of all the ways in which we are not living in the boundaries of earth. Garth has learned about nature and how to restore balance to our world, gotten involved with many environmental non-profits, and worked professionally for environmental organizations. Enjoy an enhanced coffee hour after the 10am service in the parish hall, where the adult forum will take place.

Stewardship at St. Martin’s. A Place to Be: Welcome, Known, and Loved
Sunday, October 19. Come on down for The Great St. Martin’s Breakfast Bake-Off. Submit entries to the following categories: Kids’ Creation, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Muffins, Bread, Scones, Casseroles. A group of judges will do a blind taste-testing and select winners. Drop off is at 9:30am on Sunday, October 19. Winners will receive prizes. Sign up to submit items in the church narthex this Sunday, or email the church office.
Sunday, October 26. We’ll celebrate Día de los Muertos with a fiesta catered by Dos Coyotes. We’ll have a traditional ofrenda (an altar), Mariachi music, and as guest preacher, the Rev. Dr. Portia Hopkins, chaplain of The Belfry. For the ofrenda, we invite you to bring photos or mementos of loved ones who have passed away. Bring your items on October 19 and October 26. We will display them on October 26 on the ofrenda.
We ask that you turn in your pledges by Sunday, October 26. Submit them on the card you received in the mail or by email to stewardship@churchofstmartin.org.

Installation of the Rev. Krista Heuett at St. Luke’s Woodland, October 18
The Rev. Krista Heuett began her tenure as rector of St. Luke’s, Woodland in January of this year. She will be formally installed on Saturday, October 18 at 10am at St. Luke’s at 515 Second Street in Woodland. All from St. Martin’s are welcome and encouraged to attend. St. Luke’s is the only other Episcopal parish in Yolo County and is our closest neighbor in the Wingfield Deanery. Let’s turn out to welcome their new rector!

Zoom Links Changing Monday, October 13
In order to reduce costs to the church, our Zoom links will be changing on Monday, October 13. If you normally log onto Zoom by clicking on the link on our website or in our Enews, you will not need to make a change; the website links will always be correct. But if you have saved the current link in your bookmarks or elsewhere, you will need to change to the new link starting October 13. The new links will be active on our website on October 13, and we will also send out a special E-News with the new links.

Sacramento Baroque Soloists. October 12, 4pm
The Sacramento Baroque Soloists will perform at St. Martin’s for the first time. They will present “Sweet Suites: Dance Music of the 17th & 18th Centuries” on Sunday, October 12 at 4pm in the church. Tickets $40 general/$35 seniors/$15 students. St. Martin’s parishioners 15% off online or $5 off at the door. More information HERE.
