Sunday Afternoon! Celebration of Abraham Woodland Mosque and Islamic Center
Celebration of Abraham is Sunday, February 1 at 3pm at the Woodland Mosque and Islamic Center, 613 East Street in Woodland. Celebration of Abraham aims to foster learning and understanding among faiths. The theme is “Returning to Abraham: Reflections in Courage.” Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faith leaders will speak. A free-will offering goes to Joshua’s House, a hospice home for the unhoused in Sacramento. Registration is requested, although the event is free. More information and registration HERE.
Music Notes for 10am Service on Sunday
Our choir anthem on February 1 is by Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (1852–1924), an Irish-born composer, conductor, and teacher whose church music helped shape the Anglican choral tradition. Stanford’s serene anthem “Beati quorum via” sets verses from Psalm 119, proclaiming the blessedness of those who walk in God’s way. Find the complete music notes on our website HERE.

Attend a Yolo Indivisible Visibility Event: Yolo Indivisible holds a visibility event on the first Wednesday of every month from 4:30-5:30pm in Davis, Woodland, and West Sacramento to show concern about ICE activity and the need for due process for migrants. Bring your signs and your voices. More information HERE. The next visibility event will be held on Wednesday, February 4.
Attend an Online Eyes on ICE Training: Close to 79,000 people attended this past Monday’s Eyes on ICE online training. This training, offered by the nationwide Indivisible organization, helps us know our rights and suggests responsible ways to exercise them, if necessary. The next Eyes on ICE training will be on Thursday, February 5, 5-6pm PT.
Service Opportunities
Bring Nonperishable Food for Our Weekly Collection: “One person, one item, every week” is the motto of the non-perishable food collection in the narthex, recently renamed the Jerry Hulbert Food Collection in honor of Jerry’s more than 30-year commitment to serving in programs assisting the food insecure. This week’s food goes to the CA House Multicultural Living Community. Please bring toiletries for the The Belfry this week, too.
STEAC Children’s Food Packs Packing Event: Help STEAC assemble weekend food packs for children in Davis Joint Unified School District who may be food insecure. Packing events are once a month in St. Martin’s parish hall. The next event is on Wednesday, February 4. Sign up directly with STEAC HERE.

During this season, Jeffrey will be focusing on the music of Dan Locklair (b. 1949), an American composer widely known for his sacred choral and organ music. His “Arias” for organ are lyrical and song-like, emphasizing expressive melody and gentle harmonic color over virtuosic display.
