Announcements for the Week of Sunday, February 22, 2026

Fourth Sunday with Pop-Up Choir at 10am
This Sunday at 10am is a Fourth Sunday, meaning the service is more interactive than usual and more accessible to the youngest in our congregation. It’s also the first Sunday in Lent, so we will process around the church during The Great Litany at the beginning of the service. Children and their caregivers are invited to participate in the procession. There is a rehearsal at 9:30 for the Pop-Up Choir, but all are invited to sing, even if they can’t rehearse.

Music Notes for 10am Service on Sunday
On this Fourth Sunday and the First Sunday in Lent, we will open the service with the Great Litany. As we have done in past years, our service will also evoke the Hawai’ian forgiveness ritual with a congregational chant based on the five principles of “Ho oponopono,” or “reconciliation.” At the Offertory, our Pop-Up Choir will lead us in “Hold On, My Dear Ones” by Heidi Wilson, a community song leader from Vermont, who focuses on communal music making. We first heard this song from the streets of Minneapolis, spreading through social media and word of mouth. With its tender refrain and communal spirit, the anthem echoes Lent’s call to walk together in faith, holding fast to hope. Find the complete music notes on our website.

Two Adult Formation Opportunities This Sunday, February 22
Right after the 10am Service! Exploring St. Brigid & Celtic Spirituality: Join Rev. Pamela in Room 6/7 to talk about the “other” Irish saint (Patrick’s day is coming soon!) and what we can learn about caring for the earth and growing closer to God from the Celtic tradition.

Sunday Afternoon at 3pm! Panel Discussion on the Meaning and History of the Beloved Community: You are invited to attend a panel discussion presented at the Church of the Incarnation in Santa Rosa this Sunday, 3-5pm. You can attend online or join others in person in Room 6/7, where we’ll be projecting the event on screen and watching together. Panelists include author and scholar Jennifer Snow, who will sketch the history and theology of Becoming Beloved Community through the perspectives of activists, priests, and churches; Kirstyne Lange, President of the Santa Rosa/Sonoma County NAACP, who will describe the present state of Sonoma County’s racial justice experience, and Stephen Shaver, Rector of The Church of Incarnation, will offer a pastor’s view of how a thriving church strives for Beloved Community. You must register to participate.

Pancake Breakfast Thanks
Huge thanks to all those who donated food and volunteered to set up, cook, serve, and clean up for the Shrove Sunday Pancake Breakfast last Sunday. Close to 80 people were served a hearty breakfast and $1263 was raised to be given to a charitable organization. Special thanks to Tim Williams for leading and organizing the event and to all our youth that came to participate and help. And thanks to all of you who donated! Tim says, “See you again next year!”

Lent Worship, Fellowship, and Formation
Living Well Through Lent Online Reflection Group: Join Helen Campbell on Mondays during Lent from 2-3:30pm on Zoom. The theme is “Cultivating Healing and Wellness.” The next meeting will be on February 23. We have booklets in the narthex. Please contact the church office or Helen for the Zoom link.

Tuesday evening book study of Richard Rohr’s The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage: Join Rev. Pamela for her Lent book study on Tuesdays at 6:30pm in the narthex beginning February 24. The first meeting will be both online and in person. Please let Rev. Pamela or the office know if you’re interested and whether you’ll be there in person or online. Let us know also if you’d like to join Rev. Pamela before class at the DCMH (Davis Community Meals & Housing) meal in our parish hall at 5:45pm. If you need help purchasing the book, please be in touch with clergy. Wednesday Night Soup Suppers: We are partnering with other area churches for Wednesday night Soup Suppers and Evening Prayer. This Lent, we’ll be at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation. Supper starts at 6pm, with the Vespers service starting at 6:45pm and lasting about 30 minutes. Each congregation is contributing two soups per Wednesday, so please sign up in the narthex if you can bring soup and/or bread. Begins February 25 and continues on all Wednesdays in March.

Service Opportunities
Bring Nonperishable Food for Our Weekly Collection: “Every person. Every week. One item of food.” This is the motto of our weekly non-perishable food collection. Sunday’s food goes to CA House Multifaith Living Community and any toiletries will go to The Belfry.

Donate blankets, hand warmers, hats, and gloves to Davis Community Meals & Housing: The temperature is expected to get down to freezing in the next few days, and DCMH needs these items immediately. Drop them off at Paul’s Place, 1111 H Street, or contact DCMH at 530-753-9204 to arrange for pick up.

STEAC Children’s Food Packs Packing Event: Help STEAC assemble weekend food packs for children in Davis Joint Unified School District who may be food insecure. The next packing event is on Wednesday, March 4 from 8:30 – 9:45 and 9:45 – 11am. Sign up directly with STEAC.

Rector’s Office Hours
Rev. Pamela’s next office hours will be on Tuesday, February 24 from 4-5:15pm in the church library. If you would like to see Pamela at a different time, email Pamela or the church office.
