We are working hard to support the two refugee families who came to Davis this Spring. As they move through the asylum-seeking process, there are many ways you can help through our Families Together Project.
Here are some of the volunteers we need:
- A volunteer to teach how to use some of the packaged items in their pantry, such as cake mixes, cornbread mix and a few other items.
- Someone to look into whether it’s feasible to take Yolo Bus to ESL in Woodland. That person to also figure out what Unitrans buses go near them and whether any would be useful.
- A soccer support person for each kid — help with transportation to practices and games, if needed
- People to drive kids to summer school in Davis and to ESL in Woodland
- A person to serve on the Planning Committee for the fundraiser being hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis this summer (this is a short-term job to work with UU folks as they plan this Aug 8 event)
- A person to be over-all point person for cell phones (this job would not need to start until end of summer)
What might work for you? Please contact Lynn Zender, Carole Hom, or Janet Lane if you have questions or wish to offer to volunteer. And, thank you!!!
