Message from the Very Rev. Pamela from Oct 3, 2025:

Dear Ones,

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” Jane Goodall said this, and the impact she had on the world was profound. She embodied the values of empathy, curiosity, and kindness until the day she died. May she rest in peace and rise in glory!

It seems fitting, in a way, that the news of her death came as we prepare to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis this weekend. Like Francis, her love of animals and her respect for them helped open so many eyes to the precious gift of Creation and our responsibility to care for it. On Sunday many of us will bring our pets, stuffed animals, and pictures of pets to be blessed. This is a charming tradition, but it is more than that: it is our way of thanking God for making us part of Creation and acknowledging that we are indeed one ‘ohana, a family united by love.

Even as the Season of Creation winds down, we have an opportunity to continue to ponder this year’s theme, Peace with Creation. How can our relationship with Creation be a starting point for living a more peace-filled life and for creating more peace in a fractured and frightened world? As Jane Goodall said, what we do makes a difference, and we get to decide what kind of difference we want to make. 

Please consider joining with others in the parish for our upcoming formation and fellowship opportunities, including the climate reality presentation on October 12 and our latest Sacred Ground circle, which starts on October 19. Your participation matters. When we learn together, share together, and wonder together, we are taking positive steps toward building a more peace-filled, resilient, and welcoming Beloved Community.
