This Sunday! Migration with Dignity Sunday
The Episcopal Church (TEC) has designated Sunday February 8, as Migration with Dignity Sunday. Using resources from the Episcopal Migration Caucus, we’ll have special prayers for immigrants, their advocates, and those who have suffered due to ICE actions. We are also partnering with Trinity Cathedral to pilot a new 10-session course, Sacred Journeys. The course explores personal stories, videos, artwork, and articles about immigration and will be on Zoom from 6-8:30pm every other Thursday beginning February 26. The mentors, the Rev. Anne McKeever and Shireen Miles, will facilitate activities and discussion that will help us discern how we can strive for justice and peace and respect the dignity of every human being in these difficult times. We have three St. Martin’s participants and would like one more. This past week, 154 Bishops of the Episcopal Church wrote a joint letter entitled, “Whose Dignity Matters?” See this letter, including the written version and a video of the bishops reading the letter HERE.

Music Notes for 10am Service on Sunday, February 8
The Sanctuary Choir will sing “The People Who Walked in Darkness,” by Pepper Choplin (b. 1967), a composer known for his accessible and expressive choral works. In today’s anthem, Choplin sets a familiar scripture (Isaiah 9:2) with rhythmic energy. Sunday’s Prelude, Mark. A. Miller’s “Toccata on Lift Every Voice and Sing,” was selected to honor Black History Month. Mark A. Miller (b. 1967) is an African American composer and church musician whose work often weaves together vibrant organ writing with themes of justice, hope, and praise. This Sunday, February 8! Youth Liturgy of the Word (YLoW)
On second Sundays of the month, February 8 included, junior and senior high youth meet with Rev. Debbie in Room 8 during the 10am service to share what the Gospel reading may be saying to them. If you join Rev. Debbie and others, you’ll return to the church for Communion.

Pancake Breakfast Next Sunday, February 15
The Shrove Sunday Pancake Breakfast is back! The Social Justice and Outreach (SJ&O) Committee, with help from our youth, will host the breakfast from 8:30am to 10am (between services) on Sunday, February 15. The event is a fundraiser. SJ&O and the youth will recommend to Vestry a charity to receive the proceeds. We hope you’ll join us with a hungry appetite and a generous spirit. If you want to contribute to the fundraiser, you can leave a donation at the event itself, or you can mail us a check (with Pancake Breakfast in the memo line) or use the online GIVE button on our website. Lent Worship, Fellowship, and Formation
Ash Wednesday, February 18: We’ll have three services, including 7am and 7pm, both Holy Eucharist with sermon and imposition of ashes. At 12pm, we’ll have ashes-to-go on the labyrinth outdoors.

Living Well Through Lent Online Reflection Group: Join Helen Campbell on Mondays during Lent from 2-3:30pm on Zoom. With the theme “Cultivating Healing and Wellness,” the group will meet starting on Ash Wednesday, and then weekly on Mondays. We have booklets in the narthex. Please sign up with the church office.

Tuesday evening book study of Richard Rohr’s The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage: Join Rev. Pamela for this book study on Tuesdays at 6:30pm in the church library beginning Tuesday, February 24. Let us know if you need help purchasing a book! Candlelight Prayer Vigils: As we move into Lent, we remember our brokenness as well as God’s call to let our light shine. In this spirit, there will be a series of candlelight prayer vigils at Davis churches on the third Sunday of the month at 7pm. Mark your calendars: Sunday, February 15 at Davis Lutheran Church; March 15 at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, and April 19 at St. Martin’s.

Time of Remembrance Events in Davis and Sacramento
“The Time of Remembrance” marks February 19, 1942, when President Roosevelt issued the executive order leading to the incarceration of over 120,000 people of Japanese descent during World War II.

Saturday, February 14, Time of Remembrance Event in Sacramento: Saturday, February 14, 1-3pm, at the California Museum (Sacramento), $15 (children/students free). Our diocese is a sponsor. More information HERE.

Thursday, February 19, Time of Remembrance Event in Davis: The Davis Asians for Racial Equality present excerpts from Rachel Maddow’s Burn Order and a showing of the film Kintsukuroi on Thursday, February 19 at 4:15pm at the Veterans Memorial. Free.

Contribute to Our Weekly Food Collection
“Every person. Every week. One item of food.” This is the motto of the non-perishable food collection in the narthex, recently renamed the Jerry Hulbert Food Collection in honor of Jerry’s more than 30-year commitment to serving in programs assisting the food insecure. This week’s food goes to STEAC and next week’s to Dixon Family Services.

During this season, Jeffrey will be focusing on the music of Dan Locklair (b. 1949), an American composer widely known for his sacred choral and organ music. His “Arias” for organ are lyrical and song-like, emphasizing expressive melody and gentle harmonic color over virtuosic display.   Announcements for the Week of Sunday, February 22, 2026 Fourth Sunday with Pop-Up Choir at 10amThis Sunday at 10am is a Fourth Sunday, meaning the service is more interactive than usual and more accessible to the youngest in our congregation. It’s also the first Sunday in Lent, so we will process around the church during The Great Litany at the beginning of the service.
