Sunday Worship Update

Sunday Worship update

We hope everyone will join us for worship this Sunday at 10 am. We will be live-streaming via Facebook again, with some improvements to location and quality.

Simply go to www.facebook.com/StMartinsDavis and scroll down until you find our live video. We know this didn’t work for everyone last week, because we accidentally started the video from my personal Facebook page instead of the church’s. We hope not to make the same mistake twice!

We have also spent much of the week working on how we can improve our sound quality and the speed and stability of our livestream (so it won’t be so choppy). We think we have a good plan in place, but it’s a new adventure every week. Our recordings will continue to become available on the Facebook page and website shortly after worship concludes.

Please note that this Sunday we’ll be leading a service without Communion. This was a common practice in our churches before Holy Eucharist on a weekly basis became the norm. It is formally known as Ante-Communion (“ante” as in “pre,” not “anti” as in “against”!). There will be organ music, prayers, readings, and a homily, just none of the Eucharistic Prayers with which we are familiar, and no Communion.

I hope to write a blog post soon with more information about the theology of this service. I’m sure the practicalities of it during this time of pandemic are obvious to everyone.

Please take good care of yourself and of one another. Practicing humility, gratitude, and compassion (including self-compassion) can only be good for the soul, now more than ever. Our need for God and for one another is unchanged by outward circumstances and for that I am profoundly grateful. You are all in my prayers!

Love and blessings,

Pamela+
