Message from the Rector: Storm Updates

January 27, 2021

Dear Ones,

Along with this note you will find a couple of pictures of our beloved campus, taken during a lull in the storm. Most of Davis, including St. Martin’s, is currently without power and, as you can see, we’ve lost a whole bunch of branches. There was also some damage to signs and the gate outside of the garbage area behind the kitchen. However, so far there appears to be no major damage to any of our buildings or to the property more generally–truly a blessing.

As always, I’m so grateful to our Buildings and Grounds chair, Janet Lane, for showing up bright and early and assessing the situation. By the time I got there to take pictures and walk around the grounds, Bob and Emiliano were already hard at work clearing branches. A big “thank you” to all!

This clean-up effort will take some time, especially as we are expecting this weather pattern to be with us for another day or two. If you are able to lend a hand, please contact Janet so that she can let you know what most needs to be done and keep the process as coordinated as possible.

My plan today was to send out an update about the currency of wellness, but with the storm damage uppermost in so many minds I thought this was a more important update for today. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or ideas.

Expect more updates on Friday, or maybe even as soon as tomorrow. Please stay safe and check in on neighbors, friends, and fellow parishioners who may be struggling or just feeling even more isolated with the power out.

I look forward to seeing you all at our Annual Meeting on Sunday!

Blessings,
Pamela+
