This Saturday! Installation of the Rev. Krista Heuett at St. Luke’s Woodland, October 18
The Rev. Krista Heuett will be formally installed as Rector of St. Luke’s on Saturday, October 18 at 10am at St. Luke’s, 515 Second Street in Woodland. St. Luke’s is the only other Episcopal parish in Yolo County and is our closest neighbor in the Wingfield Deanery. Let’s turn out to welcome their new rector!

This Saturday! Davis Interfaith Association (DIA) Picnic: Saturday, October 18, 11am to 1:30pm, Rainbow City Playground at Davis Community Park. More information HERE.
This Saturday! Indivisible Yolo “No Kings” Rally and March: October 18, 1:30pm, Civic Center Park (near City Hall) in Davis. The speakers will be leaders from across Yolo County. (We apologize that an earlier version of this announcement misstated the speakers for this event.) More information HERE.
Next Saturday! Open House at The Belfry: Saturday, October 25, 1-3pm. The Belfry is hosting an open house to thank all the congregations that support them. Location: 216 A Street in Davis. More information HERE.
The Great St. Martin’s Breakfast Bake-Off, THIS Sunday, October 19
Come on down for The Great St. Martin’s Breakfast Bake-Off. We have entries in the following categories: Kids’ Creation, Gluten-Free/Vegan, Muffins, Bread & Scones, Casseroles. If you have not signed up, it’s not too late. Drop off your items in the parish hall from 7:50 to 9:30am. Please provide a simple list of ingredients, especially noting any allergens. We’ll provide notecards, if needed. A group of judges will blind sample the food and select winners. Winners will receive prizes, and we will all enjoy the baked items during coffee hour after the 10am service.
Día de los Muertos and Stewardship Celebration, October 26
On Sunday, October 26, we’ll wrap up our Stewardship Season with a fiesta catered by Dos Coyotes after the 10am service. We’ll celebrate Día de los Muertos with a traditional ofrenda (an altar) and music by Mariachi UC Davis. The Rev. Dr. Portia Hopkins, chaplain of The Belfry, will be our guest preacher. For the ofrenda, we invite you to bring photos or mementos of loved ones who have passed away. Bring your items on October 19 and October 26 (or weekdays 9am – 1pm to the office). We will display them on October 26 on the ofrenda. We ask that you turn in your pledges by Sunday, October 26. Submit them on the card you received in the mail or by email to stewardship@churchofstmartin.org.
Send in Names for All Saints’ Day Necrology
We invite you to submit names of those who have passed into eternal life since November 1, 2024 to be included in our All Saints’ Day Necrology. We will read this list of departed loved ones at both All Saints’ Day services on Sunday, November 2. Please submit names of anyone you wish to have included by Wednesday, October 29 to the church office (530-756-0444; info@churchofstmartin.org).
Seeking Singers for Lessons and Carols
On the afternoon of December 14, our Sanctuary Choir will present a Lessons and Carols service featuring choral anthems by indigenous North American composers. This music is challenging and interesting, and presents an additional layer of depth to our traditional Advent readings and hymns. If you love to sing and like to learn challenging music but don’t have time to commit to the choir full time, you can join us for this service. Come to Thursday choir rehearsals at 7pm in the sanctuary; we will devote the first half hour of our rehearsal to Advent Lessons and Carols.
