Message from the Very Rev. Pamela from April 11, 2025:
Dear Ones,
Holy Week is upon us and I am already feeling all the complex feelings that come with this special time in the church year. There is so much “both/and” happening in the world right now, with both terrible things unfolding in the news daily, if not hourly, and many precious things to cherish and celebrate in our everyday lives.
As we prepare wholeheartedly for the sacred days leading up to Easter, it is also important to remember all that occurs during the Easter season, which lasts for 50 days (yes, longer than Lent!). This year, that includes Earth Day on April 22. In addition to the session I’ll be leading that evening for the Commission on the Environment, we will lean into creation themes in our worship on Sunday, April 27 and will have a special presentation on eco-spirituality after the 10 o’clock service.
That same weekend, on Saturday, April 26, from 1-4pm, St. Martin’s members who identify as LGBTQ+ (and their partners) are welcome to gather and play board games. Please RSVP to the church office so that we know how many to expect. In May, we’ll have other special events, like Boy Scout Sunday on May 4, the Woods to Waves hike-a-thon on May 10, and Rogation Sunday on May 18.
There will be lots more information coming soon, so stay tuned. And for now, let us walk together into Palm Sunday and all that follows. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Blessings,
Pamela+
