Message from the Very Rev. Pamela from April 18, 2025:

Dear Ones,

We are at the heart of Holy Week, the Triduum, at last. The liturgies we share now are indeed the way the Church remembers and enacts the pivot point of our faith, the turning from life to death to new life. Participating in these services is a profound and holy task, and being here together draws us closer as a community.

At the same time, we’re almost certainly going to be blessed with people who will be joining us for the first time, especially on Easter morning. They might be here because they’re visiting family, or from some sense of obligation. Or it could be that something very personal is calling them here, perhaps something they can’t even articulate for themselves yet. Whatever the reason, we know they will find welcome and acceptance at St. Martin’s. Let’s make our hospitality shine on Easter Sunday, so they know that, too!

As the people at Invite, Welcome, Connect say, “Hospitality is a culture, not a task. Welcoming visitors isn’t just about handing out bulletins or serving coffee. It’s about cultivating a church culture that expects and celebrates the presence of new people. This Holy Week and Easter, may we remember that we follow a Savior who welcomed the stranger, ate with the outcast, and called disciples from unexpected places. When we open our doors and hearts to others, we follow in his steps.” Amen!

Blessings,

Pamela+

P.S. If you’re coming to the Easter Vigil (and I hope you are!), don’t forget to bring a bell or rattle to help make a joyful noise!
