Dear Friends,
“You bee-long at St. Martin’s! Come and bee counted!” Our bee-themed stewardship posters, designed by the fabulous Gabe Avila, Director of Operations, are playful reminders of our theme, “St. Martin’s: A Place to Be(e) Welcome, Known, and Loved.”
This Sunday we celebrate both Día de los Muertos and the ingathering for our fall pledge campaign. While we gratefully receive pledges any time, the deadline of October 26 helps the Budget and Finance Committee, and ultimately the Vestry, make responsible plans for the upcoming year. Our goals are to receive 120 pledges, totalling $500,000. At the time of this writing, we’re at 78 pledges and $349,000. I still think we can get to the goal! We know that not everyone can give a large amount, but we also know that everyone can give something, and that every gift helps us get where we want to be, and where we think God is calling us to be (bee!).
If you want to know more about our ministry goals for next year, or how our finances work, please don’t hesitate to ask. The mailing we sent out a few weeks ago had a lot of information in it, too. If you haven’t pledged, here’s how to do it: this Sunday, you can bring your pledge card to church, or pick up a pledge card in the narthex, and drop it in the offering plates as they go around. We’ll be blessing the pledges at both services. If you’d rather send in your pledge via email, or have any process questions, just contact Janet Lane in the office (info@churchofstmartin.org) and she’ll take care of you.
After the 10am service, we’ll celebrate with Dos Coyotes and mariachi music; details are below. We hope you’ll be there and even invite others, so that our circle of bee-longing (I couldn’t help it!) will continue to grow.
