Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter Schedule
Palm Sunday, April 13, 8am: Rite I Worship with palms and the Passion Gospel reading.
Palm Sunday, April 13, 9 – 10am: Donkeys visit from the Rural Veterinary Experience and Teaching Service in Dixon
Palm Sunday, April 13, 10am: Rite II Contemporary Worship at 10am with palm procession and Passion Gospel play.
Maundy Thursday, April 17, 7pm: Holy Eucharist with choir and optional foot washing.
Good Friday, April 18, 12pm: Stations of the Cross in the church with optional veneration of the cross.
Good Friday, April 18, 7pm: Good Friday Proper Liturgy in the church with optional veneration of the cross.
Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 19, 8pm: The Great Vigil of Easter with lighting of the new fire, dramatic readings, and ending with a festive Holy Eucharist. Reception following in the narthex.
Easter Day, Sunday, April 20, 8am: Festive Holy Eucharist with music, preaching, and choir.
Easter Day, Sunday April 20, 10am: Festive Holy Eucharist with music, preaching, and choir. Easter Egg hunt for children of all ages after the service. Special Easter coffee hour after 10am service.
Showing of Movie and Fundraiser, One Fighting Irishman at St. John’s Roseville, March 22
The Diocese of Northern California is showing the movie, One Fighting Irishman, at St. John’s, Roseville on Saturday, March 22 at 5pm. The showing of this movie is a fundraising event for a Diocesan-wide pilgrimage to Tule Lake National Monument, a WWII Japanese concentration camp located at the northernmost border of our Diocese. RSVP Now! OWL (Older, Wiser Laity) Spring Tea, April 3, 2-3:30pm
All older and/or wiser laity and clergy are invited to a Spring Tea on April 3 in Room 6/7 and outside on the deck, weather permitting. Come at 2pm to share some social time and light refreshments. Lent Formation, Fellowship, and Worship
Book Discussion, Sundays after 10am Service. “How We Learn to Be Brave,” by the Rt. Rev. Marianne Budde in Room 6/7. Please read Chapters 3 and 4 for the discussion on Sunday, March 23. All are welcome to attend, even if you missed the first and/or second class. In Room 6/7.
Zoom Discussion Group, Mondays 1 – 2:30pm. Living Well Through Lent, Cultivating the Fruits of the Spirit.” March 31, April 7, April 14 (no meeting this week). If joining for the first time, contact the church office for the Zoom link.
Soup Supper and Evening Prayer, Wednesdays 6pm. Sponsored by several churches including St. Martin’s, supper is followed by Holden Evening Prayer (20 minutes) at 6:45pm. Please sign up in the narthex if you can bring soup on April 9. At Davis Lutheran Church, 317 E 8th Street in Davis.
Easter Memorial Donations in Memory of or Thanksgiving for Loved Ones
This year’s Easter memorial donations go to Children’s Formation. Children’s Formation provides funds for Godly Play materials, Godly Play training for our teachers, and any special projects planned for the Godly Play classes. If you wish to donate to Children’s Formation in memory of or in thanksgiving for loved ones this Easter, we will list the names of your loved ones in the Easter bulletins. Please write a check to the Church of St. Martin with “Easter Memorial Donation to Children’s Formation” in the memo line. Or use the GIVE button on our website. In either case, please write the office with the names of those you wish to have noted in the Easter Vigil and Easter Day bulletins. The deadline to have names included is April 11.
Saturday! Sacramento Chamber Music Society Concert
This Saturday, March 22 at 7:30pm in the church, The Sacramento Chamber Music Society will perform a program including Mozart and other composers. Tickets are $35/$15 students with $5 off for St. Martin’s parishioners. For information, see https://cmssacto.org/.
